A Pennsylvania-based consultant on energy efficiency in facilities has entered the roof coatings business.

National Energy Technologies has announced the addition of a reflective roofing product line to its list of services. The company says the coating system can reduce the need for air conditioning by up to 40 percent in some building types.

The product, which carries a 20-year warranty, "seals and coats everything it touches," reports the Souhthampton, PA-based company, which describes itself as a facilities conservation specialist.

Applications and Features

The flexible, multipurpose Kevlar-reinforced Thermoset coating is designed to be applied in one coat and to adhere to 1670 pounds per square inch.

The coating system works with multiple substrates, including metal roofs, where it can accommodate extreme temperature swings, the company says.

The patented coating system is "especially suited" to metal roof applications, where extreme temperature swing can cause expansion, seam stretching and leaks. The coating "will dramatically reduce the metal roof temperature seam travel and will remain flexible to maximize seal," the manufacturer says.

The coating can also adhere to wood, concrete, metal, foam, petroleum-based and rubber roof membranes and has been used in a variety of applications, from ship and tank coatings to basement walls and marine pilings, the company says.

The formulation is designed for mold resistance, UV resistance, class-A fire rating, and a 200% sustained lifetime flexibility.
