Benjamin Moore is inviting entries for the company’s annual HUE Awards program, which recognizes “exceptional use of color in architecture and interior design projects.”

The submission deadline is July 15. Entry into the competition is free and open to all architects and designers. The winners receive a cash prize of $5,000.

The categories include Residential Interiors, Residential Exteriors, Contract Interiors, and Contract Exteriors, as well as a Lifetime Achievement Award, Restoration & Renovation, and potential discretionary awards for Social Responsibility.

Benjamin Moore paints must play an essential part and be visible design components in the submissions, the company said.

Award winners receive a hand-blown crystal HUE sculpture in addition to $5,000.

According to the entry form, the judges, composed of a panel of industry professionals, will be looking for designers who have a compiled a compelling body of work, not just one project, and whose color choices represent exceptional talent and instinct.

In 2010, for the first time, the HUE Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to an interior design firm rather than an individual. The award recognized Diamond Baratta Design, of New York, and its principals William Diamond and Anthony Baratta. (See Benjamin Moore Honors 6 for Color Use.)

“The power and impact of color are what the Benjamin Moore HUE Awards are all about,” said Eileen McComb, Benjamin Moore director of corporate communications. “Benjamin Moore is proud to be able to shine the public spotlight on some of the most creative and forward-thinking design talents who have demonstrated their affinity for color and applied it in innovative and imaginative ways.”
