Arkema Coating Resins, a unit of Arkema Inc. (Colombes, France) announced earlier this week that it plans to expand manufacturing capabilities for its Synaqua platform at its Grand Rapids, Michigan, facility.

“This investment to localize production of Synaqua in North America will enhance our ability to meet customer demand for these products, which has grown significantly in the past few years,” said Eric Kaiser, Regional President, Arkema Coating Resins.

Arkema Coating Resins, a unit of Arkema Inc. (Colombes, France) announced earlier this week that it plans to expand manufacturing capabilities for its Synaqua platform at its Grand Rapids, Michigan facility (above).

“By adding new manufacturing capacity for these products at our Grand Rapids facility, which has an outstanding record for efficiency, quality and safety, we can ensure more reliable supply and the continued product quality our customers have come to expect.”

According to the company, Synaqua 4804 waterborne alkyd is an APEO- and ammonia-free short oil alkyd used in a wide range of applications where the feel and performance of conventional alkyds is desired in a low-VOC and solvent-free formulation. Other desired propertes include gloss and hardness, among others.

The Grand Rapids plant produces a range of resin technologies, including waterborne, conventional and high solids solvent-borne resins for formulators of industrial coatings, architectural coatings, construction products, traffic paints and container coatings.

The new manufacturing capacity is slated to come on line in the second quarter of 2019.
