SSPC SoCal to Meet on Concrete Work

Bob Murphy, an SSPC Certified Concrete Inspector and trainer and recipient of SSPC: The Society for Protective Coatings' 2017 John D. Keane Award of Merit, will present on the topic of concrete-related work at a lunch meeting put together by the SSPC Southern California/Nevada Chapter on Oct. 30.

Sherwin-Williams' Bob Murphy will present on the topic of concrete-related work at a lunch meeting put together by the SSPC Southern California/Nevada Chapter on Oct. 30.

The presentation, titled "Be Prepared for Concrete" and subtitled "How do you know where you are going if you don't know how to begin?" will cover the surface preparation, rehabilitation and coating of concrete surfaces. Points covered will include best practices for preparing concrete; understanding hydrostatic pressure versus moisture vapor emissions; installing coatings on concrete substrates; and identifying the most useful standards to employ on concrete-related projects. 

Murphy, a certified training professional on the topic of concrete coatings, has been with The Sherwin-Williams Company's Protective Coatings division for 37 years. In addition to SSPC, he is a member of  AWWA, NACE, ICRI and ASTM. 

The event, sponsored by CSI Services, HercRentals, Tnemec Company Inc., Cor-Ray Painting, Arena Painting Contractors, Polygon and Sherwin-Williams, will take place at 11 a.m., Oct. 30, at the Holiday Inn in La Mirada, California.
