SSPC Scholarship Winners Announced

SSPC: The Society for Protective Coatings recently announced the winners of its 2018-19 scholarship program, which awarded $2,500 in tuition funding to indvidiual SSPC members and their children.

In order to qualify for the competition, candidates had to be a high school senior with plans to enroll in college full-time, or already attending college. Applicants must be a member of SSPC in good standing, or the child or grandchild of an SSPC member.

This year’s winners are:

  • Anna Arato, Emory University;
  • Karan Bansal, North Dakota State University;
  • Brendan Beshock, University of Pittsburgh;
  • Stephanie Brand, University of Illinois;
  • Jessica Davison, University of Southern Mississippi;
  • Saiada Fancy, Florida International University;
  • Karim Garcia, Rhodes College;
  • Michael Gatz, Michigan State University
  • Kinley Gipson, Lamar University
  • Kevin Karras, University of Wisconsin - Madison
  • Abby Longhofer, Florida State University
  • Mya Poulos, Indiana University Bloomington
  • Margaret Schiffer, West Virginia University
  • Weixiu Zeng, University of Akron; and
  • Cheng Zhang, University of Akron.

Those who won the scholarship will also receive a one-year membership to SSPC.

Applications open in January every year, and are due by April 30. Applications for the 2019-20 cycle will open early January of 2019.
