Allegheny County

Pennsylvania's Allegheny County is looking for contractors to perform repainting and repair work to two barns and a silo at Round Hill Park Farm, a 1,101-acre park and working farm open to the public in Elizabeth Township, Pennsylvania.

This project requires a mandatory site visit prior to the bid due date. All visitations are to take place between 6 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on weekdays. Bids are due by Aug. 22.

Scope of Work

The awarded contractor is responsible for the exterior repair and recoating of two barns and one concrete silo on the Round Hill Park Farm.

For the silo rehabilitation, the contractor will be responsible for the coating removal and replacement on the concrete exterior, metal cap, metal hoop and metal ladder. Coatings shall be removed from the concrete surfaces by pressure washing (3,000 psi). If any loose paint is remaining after this method of cleaning, the contractor is to hand-tool scrape until satisfactory for coating applications. Once these surfaces have been properly prepared, a sealing primer and two finish coats of an architectural coating system may be applied. The metal roof, structural hoops, hardware and fixtures associated with the exterior of the silo are also to be scraped clean, primed and coated with a DTM architectural coating.

When the contractor is completing the barn rehabilitations, they must first clean both barns by power washing methods (3,000 psi). After washing, the contractor must let the wood dry for 24 hours; loose paint that is remaining after this process is to be hand-tool scraped clean. Following this step, any wood that has exhibited areas of dry-rot is to be removed and replaced. When all preparation and repair work has been completed, the contractor may coat the wood surfaces with a sealing architectural primer and two coats of an architectural coating. Any exterior metal hardware or fixtures are to be given the same preparation and coating treatments as on the silo.

This project is to be completed 120 days from the effective date of notice to proceed. The owner-specified brand is PPG.
