Global coatings company PPG (Pittsburgh) and major retailer The Home Depot have announced an expanded partnership, along with the release of a new PPG product.

The companies announced last week that Home Depot will now be offering PPG’s Olympic brand stains in all of its nearly 2,000 stores across the United States. The line includes PPG’s Olympic Maximum, Olympic Elite and Olympic Waterguard, and most of the stores will be equipped by the end of the 2018’s second quarter, the companies note.

In the partnership announcement, PPG also revealed a new product in its Olympic line: Olympic SmartGuard, which will only be available in select stores.

“Olympic has been America’s most trusted stain brand since 1938 and is rated among the top stains by a leading independent consumer rankings magazine,” said Dave Cole, PPG vice president, architectural coatings, U.S. and Canada. “We are pleased to grow our partnership with The Home Depot and offer their customers an array of high-quality, well-respected products.”

New Product

In the partnership announcement, PPG also revealed a new product in its Olympic line: Olympic SmartGuard, which will only be available in select stores.

The company says that this newest product aims to “take the hassle out of weekend projects,” as the product is a heavily concentrated formula that comes in a lightweight pouch package.

According to PPG, the dry time for this spray-applied product is as little as one hour after application and the coating is made to provide a durable, water-resistant seal.

“We’re extremely pleased to expand the breadth of our product line with Olympic stains by PPG to give our customers even more selection, innovation and value,” said Jose Barra, The Home Depot senior vice president – Merchandising, Decor.
