Early last week (April 9) holding company DowDuPont (Midland, Michigan) announced that it will invest $100 million to expand a manufacturing facility to meet growing demand in specialty materials.

The company said that the money will go to a two-year project that aims to expand the manufacturing capacity and modernize the facilities at its Sabine River Works plant in Orange County, Texas.

Early last week (April 9) holding company DowDuPont (Midland, Michigan) announced that it will invest $100 million to expand a manufacturing facility to meet growing demand in specialty materials.

The specialty materials produced at the plant include product lines Surlyn, Nucrel, Fusabond and Vamac (used in consumer goods and transportation), and the company adds that the investment will support DowDupont’s Packaging & Specialty Plastics business of the Materials Science Division, as well as the Transportation & Advanced Polymers business of the Specialty Products Division.

The added capacity is expected to come online in phases, beginning in 2020.

“With this increased capacity, we will be able to support growth in the automotive space at a time when customer demand for our advanced polymers is very strong,” said Randy Stone, business president for DuPont Transportation & Advanced Polymers.

“This investment will enable us to continue to deliver innovative solutions that serve high-growth end markets and reinforces our commitment to enhancing our leadership position in these key market segments.”
