American Coatings Show Held This Week

The American Coatings Show and Conference 2018—the biannual conference and exhibition hosted by the American Coatings Society—kicked off Monday (April 9) in Indianapolis, promising technical sessions on coating chemistry and exhibitors from throughout the coatings industry.

Today, the conference begins with Sessions 5-8, which include:

  • Session 5: Architectural Coatings I;
  • Session 6: Polyurethanes I;
  • Session 7: Radiation Curing; and
  • Session 8: Measuring & Testing.

The afternoon sessions offer a continuation of the architecural coatings and polyurethanes sessions, as well as classes on epoxies and measuring, testing and automation.

Sessions 13-16 will begin on Wednesday, and include:

  • Session 13:  Protective Coatings;
  • Session 14:  Novel Materials;
  • Session 15:  Biobased Coatings; and
  • Session 16:  Bio-Fouling & Microbial Protection.

The show part of the event kicks off today and features live product demonstrations and more than 500 exhibitors from throughout the coatings industry. Other highlights include the keynote address, presented by Barry Snyder, chief technology officer at Axalta Coating Systems; the 2018 Mattiello Lecture, by Ray Fernando, a professor at California Polytechnic State University; and a 5K fun run Wednesday morning.
