The West Virginia Department of Administration is seeking contractors for cleaning and coatings work necessary at the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (WVDNR) District Three Headquarters.

There is a mandatory pre-bid meeting scheduled for April 10. Bids are due April 24.

Scope of the Coating Work

The chosen contractor for this project is expected to properly prepare the exterior of the District Three Headquarters Building prior to coatings applications. Preparation will involve various cleaning by removing all chalk, dirt, mildew, rust and loose paint. Owner-approved methods of cleaning include sanding, solvent use and pressure washing.

Once surfaces are satisfactory, sealing and caulking of exposed bare wood, trim and siding may be applied. All wood trim or siding joints in need of caulking must be done with a 10-year silicon latex caulk. Any newly installed wood must be cleaned and primed before coating. Exposed bare wood on existing surfaces will be cleaned and spot-primed prior to coating.

Once the exterior of the building has been fully prepared, the contractor may apply an acrylic latex system to exposed surfaces, including trim, siding, window trim, door trim and eaves. This coatings system must be high-hiding and mildew resistant. The color is to be approved by the owner to match or be similar to the pre-existing color.
