For young professionals looking to learn more about masonry and restoration work, the Green-Wood Cemetery (Brooklyn) is partnering with Opportunities for a Better Tomorrow (OBT) to provide building trades training.

Interns selected for the program will learn how to maintain and otherwise care for historic buildings made of marble, granite and brownstone. Historic mausoleums located in Green-Wood Cemetery will be used as the basis for training, with the program’s overall goal geared toward training young professionals for entry-level positions in stone restoration and similar trades.

Training also includes a free 10-hour OSHA certification course, along with a free scaffolding and swing scaffolding certification course.

The application deadline is Feb. 14, 2018, with a hand skills assessment conducted Feb. 19-23. Accepted candidates will be notified on March 1.

The first open house for the program will be held Dec. 6.
