The Maryland State Highway Administration is soliciting bids for a contractor to prepare and coat 4,300 square feet of the Snow Hill Maintenance Shop in Worcester County, Maryland.

The project will require various coatings, maintenance work and repair services (including caulking) to the exterior of the entire single-story center section of the main shop building; a two-story wash bay section at the end of the main shop building; and a small shed on the right side of the building.

The Maryland State Highway Administration is soliciting bids for a contractor to prepare and coat 4,300 square feet of the Snow Hill Maintenance Shop in Worcester County, Maryland.

Site visits are highly encouraged to see all aspects of the project that will be impacted. Contact Ruby Collins or Dennis Rodgers to schedule a site visit prior to bidding.

Bids are due Dec. 12.

Scope of Work

The awarded contractor will oversee that all affected areas are first masked and/or tarped. Pressure washing will then be completed to <2500 psi to remove all surface contamination from the previously coated cement block exterior. Any remaining paint shall be scraped and sanded to a sound smooth binding surface.

Once the concrete surfaces are to specification, debris will be removed by an acceptable method, and a replacement Sherwin-Williams or approved-equal polyurethane sealant caulking will be applied.

When all caulking is to satisfaction, the contractor will then apply one base coat of Sherwin-Williams Lexon (or approved equal) conditioner to the concrete surfaces. Following this base, a two-coat system of Sherwin Williams ConFlex XL smooth elastomeric high-build coating A5-400 series (or approved equal) will be applied as recommended and specified by the manufacturer. A finishing coat is to be like the existing coating, but will be specified upon application of previous coating systems.

This project is estimated not to exceed $50,000.
