The California Department of Corrections is seeking contractors for the installation of urethane-based resinous flooring systems and epoxy-based resinous wainscot systems.

This male-only state prison was opened in 1954 and added an east facility in 1961. The prison currently hosts about 5,524 prisoners and staff members.

Bids are due Nov. 28.

Scope of Work

This project involves application of 19,800 square feet of urethane and epoxy-based resinous systems to three of the building’s floors, specifically in the main kitchen and two dining halls. The project also involves coating 6,900 square feet of wainscot panels with an epoxy-based resinous system. The awarded contractor shall complete the project within a five-phase series.

  • Phase One will require the bid submittal and work plan sent to the California Deptartment of Corrections.
  • Phase Two of the project requires the installation of 9,600 square feet of urethane-based flooring systems and 3,100 square feet of epoxy-based systems to wainscot panels in the main kitchen area. This phase is expected to be completed within 15 calendar days.
  • Phase Three involves the applications of 5,100 square feet of urethane-based resinous flooring and 1,900 lineal feet of epoxy-based systems to wainscot panels in the first dining hall with expectation of completion within seven calendar days.
  • Phase Four of the project is also a seven-day calendar limit in which the contractor is expected to complete applications of 5,100 square feet of urethane-based flooring systems and 1,900 lineal feet of epoxy-based systems to wainscot panels in the second dining hall.
  • The contractor will oversee that core coating samples are taken to measure material thicknesses and ensure field quality control. Because of this action, touch-up coatings may be required in Phase Five.

The estimated cost of this project is $400,000.
