Clariant Partners Up for Polymer Production

In a move to expand its high-end polymer business in Asia, Clariant recently announced its new partnership with Tiangang Auxiliary Co. Ltd., a UV light stabilizer supplier.

Between the investment from both Clariant and Tiangang, a new facility will be constructed in China to help meet increasing local demand for UV light stabilizer additives, as well as to increase Clariant’s footprint in Asia.

The market in China is key for both high-end process and light stabilizers, which includes Clariant’s Nylostab S-EED chemistry, and to support the increasing demand on this market, both companies will collaborate in producing manufacturing process and light stabilizers, as well as establishing a new production facility in the Cangzhou National Coastal-Port Economy and Technology Development Zone, in the Hebei province.

In a move to expand business in Asia, Clariant recently announced its new partnership with Tiangang Auxiliary Co. Ltd., a UV light stabilizer supplier.

Production at the new location is slated in begin in 2019, and there are plans to expand offerings to the automotive industry in the future.

“The partnership with Tiangang is another successful step toward strengthening Clariant’s position in China,” Christian Kohlpaintner, Clariant's Executive Committee Member residing in China, said in a statement.

“It provides us with a stronger local footprint to better position our innovative solutions in the growing Asia region, especially in China. Furthermore, by cooperating with a leading Chinese company like Tiangang, we can exchange best practices and valuable market insights in order to deliver ever-more tailored solutions to our customers.”

Gang Liu, Vice President for Tiangang, said that by partnering with Clariant, the company looked forward to “combining the rich technology and production knowledge of both companies to provide the best value-adding solutions and products to the polymer industry with world-class quality and services.”

The contract is slated to go into effect once the partnership has passed merger control clearance.
