The Dow Chemical Company recently announced the opening of a new polyurethanes service center in Romania.

Dow Polyurethanes opened the new center to serve customers in the Romania, Bulgaria and wider Balkan region. The new location is part of a pre-existing network of 20 sites that are used to produce, develop and provide technical service across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India. As it stands, the company has plans to open a similar center in Africa later this year, which will be dedicated to supporting customer needs in the Middle East and Africa.

Jon Penrice, vice president for Dow Polyurethanes EMEAI, spoke at the Brasov Service Center opening ceremony.

Dow Polyurethanes has opened a new service center in Romania to serve customers in the Romania, Bulgaria and wider Balkan region.

"Our new service center in Romania represents another building block of our strategy to support customer growth through unrivalled technical service and the development of customized solutions geared to local market needs,” he said. “The new center will play a pivotal role in taking collaboration with our customers to the next level, by bringing local expertise and new capabilities that will improve response times and accelerate technology innovation.”

Regional Development

According to Dow, the new service centers will accelerate both current and future opportunities in the Balkan, Middle East and Africa regions, as well as improve application development. These locations will also provide customers with access to laboratory and equipment capabilities, along with tailored mechanical service such as product demonstrations, prototype development and mechanical testing of final materials. There will also be training opportunities for customers, as well as warehousing for a number of polyurethane systems.

“Romania is one of the most promising and fastest-growing markets in Central and Eastern Europe,” Claudiu Tuncu, country leader of Dow Romania and Bulgaria, said in a statement. “By opening the service center in Brasov, Dow reinforces its commitment to helping grow Romania’s economy further in areas such as infrastructure development as well as building and construction. Moreover, Dow’s longstanding presence in Romania gives us the advantage of deep local knowledge and expertise in this market.”
