Do you know of a recent coating project that deserves to be recognized for excellence in aesthetic or technical effects? If so, be sure to nominate it for Durability + Design’s inaugural Elevation Awards competition.

D+D is seeking the most outstanding projects in nine categories, from air barriers to floor treatments. All D+D subscribers are eligible to nominate persons or companies for the Elevation Awards.

“This event will highlight and promote the role of protective coatings in the aesthetics, functional building system and sustainable design of architectural structures,” says awards judge Jeff Theo, PCS, Vice President-Business Development, Vulcan Painters Inc.

Nominees can be designers who used coatings to achieve excellence on a project, or applicators who demonstrated great skill in executing a painting project, between Jan. 1, 2016, and March 1, 2017.

To make sure your project or that of a colleague’s is in the running, submit your nomination by 11:50 p.m. ET May 26.

Show Your Best Work

The Elevation Awards competition was developed to honor architects, interior designers, painting contractors, decorative artisans, manufacturers and suppliers for the excellent work they do.

“Entering the awards program is a great way to connect with industry peers and share outstanding projects with a larger audience,” says awards judge Elizabeth Moss, LEED AP, historic preservation specialist for Leslie E. Robertson Associates.

The Elevation Awards give participants the chance to:

  • Demonstrate quality and expertise of their work;
  • Get the visibility and recognition their work deserves; and
  • Celebrate and promote the work of the entire project team.

It is a competitive world, and recognition for quality work is a potential point of differentiation.

Additionally, all nominated projects will receive:

  • Project profile in the Summer 2017 issue of D+D magazine;
  • Project profile on the D+D website as part of the readers’ voting platform;
  • Promotion on all D+D social media channels;
  • Coverage in D+D News and D+D In Depth; and
  • Recognition at an Elevation Awards event at CONSTRUCT in September.

Winners will receive additional coverage in D+D Fall 2017 issue, as well as in the D+D News daily eNewsletter and D+D In Depth.

With expertise in color, design, specification, renovation, building envelope technology and more, our panel of 12 esteemed industry professionals will judge the technical and aesthetic merits of projects across nine categories.

Projects can be nominated in more than one category, with a separate nomination and entry fee required for each.

Projects must be judged on technical merits, with energy use measured during the past three to five years. Applications can reference energy cost records and include an endorsement/statement from the building owner.
