Silica-based aerogel insulation is the topic of a free webinar hosted by Durability + Design.

Physical and thermal performance characteristics, advantages and more will be discussed in “Applications of Silicon Aerogel Insulation for Control of Thermal Bridging,” scheduled from 11 a.m. to noon ET (8 a.m. to 9 a.m. PT) Tuesday, Nov. 1.

Participants can earn one AIA-sanctioned Learning Unit for attending.

The webinar will discuss how heat loss reduction characteristics of aerogel-based insulation technology in targeted applications can influence reduction of overall energy consumption in commercial buildings in a preselected climate zone.

You can register here.

Learning Objectives

Those attending the webinar will:

  • Learn the nature of silica-based aerogel insulation;
  • Understand the physical and thermal performance characteristics of aerogel-based insulation and its advantages in comparison with current/existing insulation technology;
  • Understand the concept of thermal bridging in comparison to clear area determination of thermal performance (conductance);
  • Understand how the physical and performance attributes of aerogel-based insulation technology can influence heat loss reduction in key facade thermal bridging applications; and
  • Learn how the heat loss reduction characteristics of aerogel-based insulation technology in targeted applications can influence reduction of overall energy consumption in commercial buildings in a preselected climate zone.

About the Presenter

The webinar will be presented by Lisa Honaman, an application engineer/technical service specialist with Dow Corning Building and Construction Solutions.

Honaman has a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Michigan State University and a MBA from Central Michigan University.

She joined Dow Corning as a maintenance engineer in 2000 and subsequently served as a sales engineer from 2005 to 2014.

Honaman is an active member of a number of industry organizations, including the Building Enclosure Council (BEC): a council of the National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS), and the Sealant, Waterproofing and Restoration Institute (SWRInstitute).

Dow Corning is the webinar sponsor.
