GCP Applied Technologies, formerly part of the W.R. Grace & Co. group, has introduced its first synthetic roofing underlayments under the new brand.

The Cambridge, MA, manufacturer has added Tri-Flex XT and Tri-Flex 15 underlayments to its existing portfolio of roofing underlayments, which includes Grace Ice & Water Shield.

One of the new offerings includes a slip-resistant coating to provide superior foot traction, the company says.

Tri-Flex XT is described as a premium performance synthetic underlayment designed to be mechanically attached in order to overcome the shortcomings of traditional #30 roofing felt, and deliver advanced benefits that will save contractors time and labor, according to the company.

The new membrane also features a slip-resistant coating that provides superior foot traction and a safe walking surface, GCP says.

The company’s Tri-Flex 15 underlayment is billed as a synthetic alternative to #15 felt. The lightweight design makes the product easier and quicker to install than #15 felt, and boasts a 60-day exposure limit, the manufacturer says. The new exposure limit provides contractors with added flexibility to accommodate unpredictable construction schedules without compromising performance, GCP adds.

GCP Applied Technologies manufactures specialty construction chemicals and building materials for structures and provides packaging technologies for consumer brands. GCP Applied Technologies became a New York Stock exchange listed company in February.
