Coatings for Industry Inc. (Souderton, PA) has introduced a new high-performance epoxy floor coating made to resist yellowing.

Wearcoat 481HP is described as a 100 percent solids, light stabilized, self-leveling floor coating. The company says it offers very good chemical resistance properties, zero volatile organic compounds, is low odor and comes in a wide range of film thicknesses.

Anti-Yellowing Properties

The new epoxy coating was reportedly designed as an upgrade from the company’s Wearcoat 440 for applications where the floor has exposure to damaging sunlight or high-intensity lighting.

Coatings For Industry

The new high-performance epoxy topcoat from Coatings For Industry boasts anti-yellowing and fade-resistant properties, said to make it ideal for settings subject to damaging sunlight or high-intensity lighting.

It was formulated to be both anti-yellowing and fade-resistant, solving a problem common to conventional epoxy coatings, according to the industrial coatings manufacturer.

While all epoxies will eventually yellow, the company claims it will take twice the exposure for its new topcoat to change noticeably, and adds that it also improves wear resistance by 30 percent over conventional epoxy flooring.

“The 481HP has been in development for some time, and we’re excited to make it available,” says Kevin Klotz, president of CFI.

“Anti-fade, anti-yellow has been one of the holy grails in epoxies,” he adds. “Both accelerated exposure testing in our lab and field results leave us confident this will be a game changer.”

Recommended Applications

Appropriate for indoor and outdoor applications, the company says its extensive testing has demonstrated that it should prove ideal for garages, hangars or other areas exposed to UV rays.

According to the manufacturer, the topcoat is especially effective in providing a seamless floor with good resistance to an array of hazards, such as those encountered in aircraft hangars or emergency and medical facilities.

All of the decorative options available for Wearcoat 440, including flakes, quartz and metallics, are also available for the new Wearcoat 481HP. It is available as 1 gallon and 5 gallon kits.
