AkzoNobel has unveiled an enhanced version of its color tool designed to aid in the selection of paint colors.

The improved Visualizer app includes enhanced video capabilities and an “intuitive” color picker technology, the company reports in a news release.

Citing research, the company reports that 30 percent of consumers struggle to visualize what a color will like when applied, and 39 percent discuss color schemes with friends and family before purchasing paint.

Users also are able to virtually paint walls and share designs via social media, according to the coatings manufacturer.

The original version of the app was released in 2014 and has been downloaded more than 10 million times, AkzoNobel reports.

Following Trends

“Color is the number one decision factor when consumers choose paint,” explained David Menko, Global Marketing Director at AkzoNobel Decorative Paints. “Selecting the right color can be an exciting yet overwhelming challenge.”

Citing research, the company reports that 30 percent of consumers struggle to visualize what a color will look like when applied, and 39 percent discuss color schemes with friends and family before purchasing paint. AkzoNobel says the upgraded tool builds on those trends.

The new version of the app will be available on iOS and Android in more than 40 markets this year, beginning with the Netherlands, Turkey, France, India, Indonesia, Argentina and Russia.
