Water vapor permeance of coatings systems on building exteriors is the topic of an upcoming free two-part webinar series hosted by Durability + Design.

Specifying Architectural Coatings Series: Water Vapor Permeance of Coatings: What is It?” will be held from 11 a.m. to noon ET Feb. 24. The second part in the webinar series, set for April 13, will discuss why water vapor permeance of coatings systems is important.

Vapor Permeance Testing
KTA Tator Inc.

The webinar will discuss how permeance is measured in the laboratory setting.

Participants are eligible for one AIA LU credit. Attendees may register here free.

Learning Objectives

The webinar will cover:

  • The definition of permeance, as well as how it is measured in the laboratory and its various units;
  • Differences between the two ASTM standards used to determine permeance (ASTM E96 and D1653);
  • The relationship of coating permeance and thickness; and
  • Categorization of building paint systems as impermeable, semi-permeable, and permeable.

Also, the webinar will address whether the water vapor permeance of a paint system already in place can be determined.

About the Presenter

This webinar will be presented by Cheryl Roberts, a laboratory quality assurance officer at KTA-Tator Inc., a coatings consultancy based in Pittsburgh. She has worked with KTA for five years.

Cheryl Roberts

Roberts is a laboratory quality assurance officer at KTA-Tator Inc.
