Cool roof technology updates, sustainability challenges, and application issues are among the topics on the agenda for the annual roof coatings conference in Philadelphia.

The Roof Coatings Manufacturers Association’s 2016 International Roof Coatings Conference, scheduled for July 18-21, will include presentations from nearly a dozen leaders in the roof coatings and building sciences community.


The RCMA conference will feature presentations on the state of roof coatings technology.

RCMA announced the following list of session speakers and topics as of Tuesday (Jan. 19).

  • “Life Cycle Cost Analysis Using Roof Coatings, a Study in Sustainable Roofing,” presented by William A. Kirn, Roof Technology Management Inc.
  • “Reducing Peak Electrical Demand with Reflective Roofs,” presented by Jim Hoff, TEGNOS Research Inc. and Andre Desjarlais, Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).
  • “Roof Preservation or Roof Restoration with Coatings: Thin or Thick Film?” presented by Joe Rokowski, Insulating Coatings Corporation.
  • “Simulating Three Years of Roofing Material Weathering in a Mere Three Days,” presented by Carolyn Richter, Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC).
  •  “The Costs and Benefits of Sustainable Roofing on Affordable Housing,” presented by Keith Glassbrook, Capital E / Global Cool Cities Alliance (GCCA).
  • “The New Green Scene Challenge: Material Health and Ingredient Disclosure,” presented by Lorraine Ross, Intech Consulting Inc.
  • “Understanding and Improving Ponded Water Performance,” presented by Victoria Demarest, The Dow Chemical Company.
  •  “Your First Step to Success—Substrate Preparation,” presented by Jim Arnold, Kemper System America.
