A paint label developed to help painters and homeowners organize leftover paint cans is up for a design prize.

Developed by Las Vegas attorney Deanna Seery, the label, called What’s That Paint?, is vying for a Martha Stewart American Made 2015 Design Prize.

What's that paint

What's that Paint is a label that can be affixed atop paint cans. The invention is a design finalist in the Martha Stewart American Made 2015 Design contest.

What’s That Paint? labels are billed as stylish fill-in-the blank labels that can be affixed to the top of paint cans. They are designed to help users identify leftover paint and make repainting projects easier, according to the product website.

Information such as area/room, color, finish/base, brand/store and the date purchased can be filled out on the label. There is also a place on the white label where users can swatch the color, which aids in color matching, according to the company.

Experience Inspires Innovation

Seery said she came up with the idea for What's That Paint? after “a painting nightmare.”

“We were touching up our house and ended up with the wrong paint on all the wrong walls.”

After failed attempts to find paint label system at retail stores, Seery decided to create her own.

The winners of the Martha Stewart American Made 2015 Design competition will be announced Oct. 23.
