BASF Corp. has created a mesh that the company says is designed to provide crack suppression and isolation in stucco wall systems.

DiamondShield is a balanced, open-grid, triaxial glass fiber mesh engineered for use with acrylic base coats as an overlay, according to BASF. It is applied over new or existing stucco (Portland cement plaster) systems.

DiamondShield is a balanced, open-grid, triaxial glass fiber mesh engineered for use with acrylic base coats as an overlay. It is applied over new or existing stucco (Portland cement plaster) systems.

The company says the new product is Alkali resistant, compatible with all BASF Base Coats and has high tensile strength and flexibility for long-term durability.

When applied according to manufacturer specifications, DiamondShield distributes stress across three directions, which improves the tensile and flexural strength of stucco, the company notes.

DiamondShield's crack-resistance properties also improve building aesthetics, according to BASF.
