SSPC 2016 Registration Opens

The Society for Protective Coatings (SSPC) is offering a $200 discount for those who register early for the association’s 2016 conference and tradeshow.

SSPC 2016 featuring GreenCOAT will run Jan. 18-21 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio. The association recently began taking registrations for the event.

SSPC 2016 featuring GreenCOAT, the only conference and exhibition dedicated to protective, marine, industrial and commercial coatings, will take place Jan. 18-21, 2016, in San Antonio.

The association’s annual event is the only conference and exhibition dedicated exclusively to protective, marine, industrial and commercial coatings.

Technical Topics

More than 70 technical presentations are lined up for the conference, divided among sessions that include:

  • Working in the Coatings Industry—What You Need to Know;
  • Environmental, Health and Safety Regulations;
  • Adhesion;
  • Commercial Painting Programs—Challenges, Solutions and Opportunities;
  • Wastewater Coating Challenges and Solutions;
  • Coating Types;
  • Oil & Gas;
  • Concrete Protection Solutions;
  • Bridge Painting and Protection;
  • Defending Against Corrosion in the Military;
  • Cultural Issues in the Workplace;
  • Power;
  • Surface Preparation;
  • Protecting Ships and Marine Structures;
  • Inspection: Assuring Performance and Quality;
  • Specification Issues; and
  • Green Evolution.

This lineup also includes a panel discussion on coating failures.

Workshops, Mini Sessions and More

A variety of workshops are planned for the event, including sessions on coating failure investigations, women in coatings, waterborne coatings in commercial architecture, standards, paint and coating failure analysis and thermal spray coatings.

Ten mini sessions will cover topics such as green tank linings, coatings for defense applications, cured epoxy linings, acrylic epoxy hybrid coatings, telecom and water towers, corrosion testing and protective coating applications.

Workshops will include coating failure investigations, women in coatings, waterborne coatings in commercial architecture, standards, paint and coating failure analysis and thermal spray coatings.

Training courses, committee meetings, peer forums, exhibitors, special events, an awards ceremony and networking opportunities will also be on the docket for SSPC 2016.

For the second year, SSPC members have the opportunity to display their innovative research and industry ideas through the SSPC 2016 Poster Session.

SSPC introduced the Poster Session at its 2015 show in Las Vegas. Presenters spent two days highlighting their research, which included studies on zinc phosphate coatings, ion diffusion in coatings and internal coatings stress.

Abstracts for the 2016 Poster Sessions, which highlights research projects done by students or young professionals, are due Oct. 31.
