RIO DE JANEIRO--With less than a year before the Olympic torch arrives in Rio de Janeiro to kick off South America’s first attempt at hosting the Olympic Games, a newly released video may relieve concerns about the sports venues under construction.

The video, released by the Rio Municipal Government, shows that construction is well underway for nine venues at Barra Olympic Park, which will be one of four homes in Rio de Janeiro for the 2016 Olympic events.

Computer-generated architect's renderings show how construction sites at Barra Olympic Park in Rio de Janeiro will become real venues for the 2016 summer games.

The nearly three-minute video published July 7 to YouTube shows an eagle-eye view of each of the sites in various phases of construction.

It then fades each site into an architect’s computer-generated rendering of what the site should look like come game time.

The video may help relieve some concerns about whether the site will be ready for the events, according to the online swimming magazine Swim Swam.

The stadium construction projects have had several setbacks. Construction worker strikes, pollution and security concerns are among the issues Rio has faced as it prepares to hold the summer games.

Rio 2016

The 2016 Olympics will be the first ever held in South America.

Nevertheless, Rio 2016 reports that the 1.18 million square meters (3.87 million square feet) of venues at Barra Park show significant improvement compared to a previous video released in January.

And Rio 2016 assures athletes, spectators and worldwide fans that the new video demonstrates that the first games ever to be held in South America will go off without a hitch.
