Overcoming product compatibility challenges to produce a functional masonry wall design is the focus of an upcoming free webinar hosted by Durability + Design.

Today’s Masonry Wall: A Synergy Between Systems,” a D+D Educational Series Webinar, will be presented at 11 a.m.  ET May 28.

Participants are eligible for one AIA LU credit.

Various products, including air barrier systems, thru-wall flashings, and reinforcement/anchoring systems, must work together to achieve a functioning masonry wall system.

The webinar will discuss air and vapor barriers and anchoring systems.

This webinar will discuss the importance of sourcing all materials from a single supplier and designating a single contractor to ensure compatibility of all building processes.

Several key points will be covered:

  • Air and vapor barrier basics (fluid-applied versus sheet-applied products as well as permeable versus non-permeable);
  • Using anchoring systems successfully with air and vapor barriers;
  • Advantages, disadvantages and compatibility of various flashing materials; and
  • Limiting mold problems with moisture management systems.

Participants may register here free.

About the Presenter

The presenter will be Jeremy Douglas, CSI, CCPR, director of architectural services at Hohmann & Barnard Inc.

Douglas has more than 12 years of experience in the masonry industry in addition to working with various other wall systems. He has lectured nationwide on moisture control, building-envelope technologies, reinforcing and anchoring, and masonry restoration.

Hohmann & Barnard Inc. will sponsor the webinar.
