A new coatings line may help facility owners and managers tackle the multibillion-dollar problem of static generation on commercial and industrial flooring, the manufacturer reports.

Arizona Polymer Flooring (APF) has launched StatRez Static Control Flooring Systems, three products designed to protect areas requiring static dissipative or conductive flooring.

The StatRez line is designed to prevent electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage to products and equipment, limit the ability of personnel to build up a charge, and quickly remove a charge from a person or equipment.

The systems are recommended for military, aerospace and aircraft service areas; electronics manufacturing and assembly areas; solvent storage rooms; packaging lines; processing areas; clean rooms; pharmaceutical industries; and hazardous industries that carry dust or explosion hazards.

ESD has become a multibillion-dollar problem for manufacturing and end-user environments that use electronic parts. Flooring is the primary site for ESD generation.

3 Systems

Three systems are available, offering a range of static dissipative and conductive protection:

  • StatRez PC 350/350C System – a versatile, two-coat, 100% solids epoxy system commonly used in electronics and packaging lines;
  • StatRez PC 225/225C System – a three-coat, UV-stable polyurethane system commonly used in aircraft hangars and designed for excellent chemical and abrasion resistance; and
  • StatRez PC 925/925C System – a two-coat epoxy novolac system commonly used in solvent storage areas and designed for areas requiring extreme chemical resistance or complete protection from acids.

AFP says the coatings are versatile, more durable than ESD tile, and not dependent on relative humidity.

All StatRez systems comply with military requirements and industry standards, including ASTM, ANSI and the ESD Association, says APF.

Founded in 1985, Arizona Polymer Flooring manufactures high-performance flooring products and concrete coatings systems using advanced polymer chemistry. It has formulated a wide variety of products based on epoxy, polyurethane and acrylic technology.
