Firestone Building Products has launched a new line of building envelope products formulated to improve thermal performance and prevent thermal bridging in commercial buildings.

The Enverge Cavity Wall Products features continuous insulation (CI) exterior wall insulation options, an air and vapor barrier membrane, and a thru-wall flashing membrane.

Firestone says its new Enverge FlashGard Thru-Wall Flashing was used on the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, IN.

“From flexible building envelope design to installation ease, dimensional stability to significant energy savings, this system works [hard] to help a building achieve peak performance,” said Chris Tobias, cavity wall business development manager at Firestone Building Products.

The Enverge line was developed specifically in response to advancements in building requirements, including ASHRAE 90.1-2007.

CI Exterior Insulation Options

The CI exterior wall insulation is available in two facer options, a coated fiberglass mat facer and aluminum foil facer. The products incorporate a proprietary foam technology that uses an HCFC-free blowing agent that does not contribute to ozone depletion, the company says.

Firestone says both insulation products (Enverge CI Glass Exterior Wall Insulation and Enverge CI Foil Exterior Wall Insulation) enable energy code compliance for every climate zone, feature inorganic facers and closed-cell technology, are formaldehyde free and feature a thin design.

The insulation also meets ASTM E84 requirements, the company adds.

Air and Vapor Barrier

The Enverge Air & Vapor Barrier Membrane is an asphalt-based, self-sealing wall barrier that provides energy savings, consistent membrane thickness, minimizes drafts and reduces moisture to guard against mold, Firestone says.

The barrier also features a broad temperature application window down to 14 degrees °F.

Thru-Wall Flashing

The Enverge FlashGard Thru-Wall Flashing is a high-performance, flexible EPDM membrane used to protect masonry walls from water damage.

The product offers UV resistance and can remain exposed. Further, the membrane provides long-term durability and resistance to corrosion, according to the company.

The flashing can be easily installed in the mortar bed or attached to a variety of substrates, according to product literature. Alternatively, Firestone offers a self-adhered version.
