A California manufacturer of treated wood products has teamed up with North America's largest paint recycler to introduce a new protective coating for exterior lumber.

Eco Armor – Defensive Paint comes from Eco Building Products Inc. and Visions Paint Recycling LLC.

The new formulation adds UV and moisture protection for exterior lumber architectural details to existing features that protect from termites, rot and fire.

Established in 2000, Visions Paint Recycling Inc. manufactures primers, low-VOC paint and virgin latex paint. for the architectural market. The company was a partner in producing Eco Armor.

The product uses recycled consumer content "that would have otherwise ended up in our landfills or sewers," according to a product announcement.

Designed for new residential construction and residential remodeling, Eco Armor builds on Eco's extensive product line, which includes Eco Red Shield and Eco Disaster Break. The company says the latter products have been widely used in East Coast areas ravaged last year by Superstorm Sandy.
