Moisture intrusion is a common problem in single wythe masonry buildings. If the sources of moisture are not addressed, the application of additional interior and exterior coatings can lead to extensive blistering, peeling, and disbonding. This webinar addresses sources of moisture intrusion, including parapet walls, leaking gutters and downspouts, deficiencies in insulation, problems with air leakage, and poor wind-driven rain resistance of the coating.

Ken Trimber, President
KTA-Tator, Inc.

Kenneth A. Trimber is the President of KTA-Tator, Inc. Mr. Trimber has 40 years of experience in the industrial painting field. He holds a BS from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, is a NACE Certified Coatings Inspector, an SSPC Protective Coatings Specialist, and is certified at a Level III nuclear coating inspection capability in accordance with ANSI N45.2.6. He is a Past President of SSPC, is a member of the Standards Review Committee, and is Chairman of the SSPC Commercial Coatings Committee, SSPC Surface Preparation Committee, and the SSPC Containment Task Group. He is a Past Chairman of ASTM D1 on Paints and Related Coatings, Materials, and Applications, and authored The Industrial Lead Paint Removal Handbook.

Kevin Brown
KTA-Tator, Inc.

Kevin J. Brown is manager of the Commercial Services Group for KTA-Tator Inc., where he develops and implements maintenance programs for commercial clients with architectural/commercial problems related to paint failures. He is a Certified XL Tribometrist, with more than 12 years of experience in the field of retail facility management, overseeing building maintenance and preventative maintenance programs for more than 1,700 stores including store repaints, floor coating replacement and long-range budget planning.

He has extensive knowledge of numerous protective-coating systems, tooling/floor polish processes, and construction-drawing building-code review. Brown utilizes KTA’s professional staff and independent laboratory to conduct a variety of consulting services, including coating failure analysis, specification development, coating-condition surveys, floor-polish evaluations, roof-detail inspections, paint-performance testing, and program management. His previous experience includes managing numerous building maintenance and preventative maintenance program projects such as store repainting, floor polishing, floor caulking, polycarbonate replacements, lift stations, and pest control.

He has a bachelor’s degree in business administration and an MBA from Gardner-Webb University, has been a featured guest speaker at various trade-association conferences including SSPC (The Society for Protective Coatings),contractor workshops, and lunch-n-learn presentations for national A/E firms.
