Behr calls Marquee Exterior Paint & Primer its "best exterior paint ever." It retails for about $46 per gallon.

The formulation is designed to deliver a tough, non-stick surface that helps resist dirt buildup and provides advanced UV protection and gloss protection "for longer-lasting, more lustrous color," according to Behr.

Weather Protection

Behr senior vice president Scott Richards says the coating withstands severe weather conditions and calls it "Behr's best exterior paint ever."

"As a topcoat, Behr Marquee paint’s 100 percent acrylic, less-than-50-VOC formula, provides excellent hide and delivers a durable, mildew-resistant finish," Richards says. "With its primer qualities, the product offers excellent adhesion to exterior surfaces along with the ability to block exterior stains."

Does this mean you do not have to prime and, if so, what is the recommended coating thickness and what can one expect as to service life?

Comment from Steve Seidman, (6/3/2013, 7:39 PM)

How do you get away with saying that it's a primer & paint? they are both different chemicals. I had a job where the customer painted a window sill with a primer/paint. Everytime her chair hit it it would chip. I removed the old paint & primed & painted, it hasen't chipped since.

Hi Ken, thanks for your question. Yes, BEHR MARQUEE Exterior Paint and Primer is a dual paint and primer formula, which eliminates the need for application of a separate primer. Coating thickness varies based on whether the exterior satin enamel, exterior semi-gloss enamel or exterior flat is used; however, we recommend using one gallon for covering 250-400 square feet (depending on the application method and substrate porosity). As the service life is impacted by project-specific climate and weather conditions, we’re unable to specify a standard service life. However, BEHR MARQUEE Exterior Paint and Primer comes with a lifetime guarantee when users follow the recommended surface preparation and application. Hi Steve, we appreciate your question! The formulation in BEHR MARQUEE Exterior Paint and Primer is a combination of paint and primer technology that blocks stains, seals and protects uncoated and previously painted surfaces without the need for a separate primer. We recommend applying the product on clean, properly prepared coated and uncoated exterior surfaces.
