Two more paint companies have added their picks to the assortment of top colors and trends for 2013.

Behr Process Corp. has pinpointed blue as the leading color family in 2013, while Valspar Paint, refraining from selecting a “top color,” has issued three color trends that run the gamut of hues.

Details from the companies follow. Other paint and coating makers issued their color forecasts earlier.

Behr: All about Blue

A shade of blue permeates each of Behr’s four 2013 color schemes.

Behr Paints' "Color Metric" palette features a blue called "Belladonna."

The Santa Ana, CA-based company says deep, rich jeweled blues such as sapphire, lapis and cobalt will be used in combination with aqua, turquoise and coral families in the coming months.

“Behr’s 2013 color choices are modern, with inspiration pulled from historical style, particularly from the ‘20s and ‘30s, including art deco furnishings and the whimsical essence of The Great Gatsby,” said Erika Woelfel, director of color marketing.

“The streamlined color palettes will be attractive to customers who are looking to make an impact—large or small—on their property."

Behr's four color schemes are Classic Caprice, Color Metric, Sweet Jazz, and Après Ski.

Valspar Paint: Delights, Stories and Noir

Valspar Paint, of Minneapolis, says its color trend palettes for 2013 focus on “embracing happiness, authenticity and connectivity in the home.”

With the release of its color trend forecast for 2013, Valspar Paint is also hosting a "Color of the Day Sweepstakes" on Facebook.

Colors in the three palettes—Simple Delights, Gathered Stories, and Electro Noir—range from uplifting peaches, light-hearted pinks, and glowing ambers to dusky blues and transparent greens, the company says.

“All of which would harmonize with any personal style,” Valspar added.

“The Valspar 2013 trend palettes show that our home is ready to break out of its own cocoon and we are ready to start dreaming in color again, inviting the transformative power in color into our lives,” according to Sue Kim, Valspar color strategist.
