A wood staining project near one of North America's most important archeological sites is up for bid.

The Louisiana Division of Administration is accepting bids for staining a 48-slip marina, open decks, a hotel and bathhouses at Poverty Point Reservoir State Park in Delhi, LA.

Bids are due Feb. 14. A non-mandatory pre-bid conference is set for Jan. 29, but the owner requires that contractors visit the jobsite before submitting a bid.

The project includes replacing rotten wood soffit, fascia, siding, and trim before treating the wood with a water and bleach solution. The wood will then be pressure-washed and refinished by brush or roller with an exterior-grade stain enhanced by a mildewcide additive.

The project also includes painting exposed piping, conduit, and other miscellaneous metals.

Park Details

Poverty Point Reservoir State Park is situated along a 2,700-acre man-made reservoir and features an abundance of outdoor recreation opportunities, including boating, fishing, hiking, and bird watching.

The area is also home to a much older man-made attraction, the Poverty Point National Monument. The archelogical site was originally settled and developed between 1,800 and 700 B.C. by Native Americans and is notable for its sizeable prehistoric earthworks.
