CertainTeed Gypsum has introduced Extreme Texture Coat, a textured finish designed to provide durability and enhanced moisture and mold resistance to interior walls and ceilings.
The company says Extreme Texture Coat provides a complementary finish for high-performance boards such as AirRenew Extreme Abuse and AirRenew Extreme Impact Resistant, and M2Tech moisture- and mold-resistant, as well as paperless glass-mat gypsum boards.
Features and Testing
Extreme Texture Coat is a ready-mixed, acrylic-based texture designed for use with conventional spray equipment to create a durable orange peel or knockdown textured surface.

The manufacturer says the product "performs better than high-gloss acrylic latex coatings" when tested according to ASTM 2486, the standard test method for scrub resistance of wall paints. The product "also achieves the highest possible mold resistance score per ASTM D 3273," CertainTeed adds.
CertainTeed Extreme Texture Coat is now available in the Western United States.
“Some spray-on textures do not have the durability and mold resistance needed for bustling commercial, healthcare and institutional settings,” says Stephen Reynolds, marketing manager for CertainTeed Gypsum. “It can damage easily and is difficult to repair back to original condition.
"The stronger acrylic-based formula of Extreme Texture Coat, however, provides a lasting finish that will stand up to the everyday wear and tear in these interior environments.”
A subsidiary of Saint-Gobain, the world's largest building products company, CertainTeed Gypsum has served the North American building industry for more than 80 years.
