Dunn-Edwards has introduced Ultrashield, a line of zero-VOC, high-performance, interior and exterior coatings for commercial, residential and industrial use.
The three new paints and two new primers are low odor and free of hazardous air pollutants, making them suitable for interior, occupied areas, the manufacturer says.

“Ultrashield is ideal for a variety of light to moderate industrial environments, as well as commercial and residential applications where maximum protection is required,” said product manager Dave Heiligenthal.
DTM Paint, Metal Primer
New products in the line include a paint and primer for metal. Ultrashield DTM Semi-Gloss is a direct-to-metal coating that provides corrosion resistance on steel, galvanized steel and aluminum substrates. For greater corrosion protection, the manufacturer recommends new Ultrashield DTM Gray Primer.
Both products are intended for metal substrates only. They are both very low odor, HAPS free, and safe for use in occupied areas such as hospitals, hospitality and entertainment projects, according to the manufacturer.
Interior/Exterior Paint
The line also includes Ultrashield Interior/Exterior Low Sheen and Gloss, which are designed for drywall, wood, masonry, metal, equipment and tanks. Both finishes are mar and UV resistant.
For harder-to-stick to surfaces, the manufacturer recommends Ultrashield Multi-Surface Primer, designed for stronger adhesion to masonry, metal, galvanized metal, wood, plaster, wallboard, and previously coated surfaces.
Like all other Dunn-Edwards products, Ultrashield products are eco-friendly and ethylene glycol (EG)-free.
