Decorative concrete coating manufacturer NewLook International Inc. has introduced a water-based, nano-acrylic/urethane topcoat sealer for use in high-traffic areas.
SmartSeal AU is a nano-acrylic/urethane formulation designed to dry and cure quickly, leaving an abrasion-resistant film that provides weatherproof protection against sun, rain, most acids, industrial chemicals, oil and grease.

The manufacturer says water-based SmartSeal AU is ultra-low VOC, contains no toxic air or hazardous air pollutants, and complies with all environmental regulations.
Recommended Application
The sealer can be rolled, sprayed, or brushed on interior and exterior surfaces, including:
• Concrete and masonry;
• Residential and commercial spaces;
• Retail and restaurant flooring;
• Industrial garages and warehouse floors; and
• Kitchen and basements.
A grit additive may be mixed with the sealer to provide greater traction.
Features and Availability
According to NewLook, SmartSeal AU:
• Provides blush and early water resistance;
• May be applied to damp concrete surfaces;
• Resists hot-tire pickup and dirt pickup; and
• Resists yellowing, UV, chemicals and abrasion.
The product is available in one-, five- or 55-gallon containers, and covers 300 to 500 square feet per gallon.
SmartSeal AU is designed to work with the company’s concrete water-based Original Solid Color and SmartColor concrete stains.
