The event, to be held Sept. 7 and 8 in Columbus, OH, will include a vendor showcase, table-top demonstrations with new offerings, and a new program format.
New Sessions
The new lineup will include a session on estimating from blueprints or plans, rather than estimating from a personal site visit—a “growing need” that “causes much consternation with many paperhangers,” according to NGPP.
The program will be taught by a professional instructor in the field of drawing and reading plans. Attendees will learn the terminology of blueprints and plans, how to measure scaled diagrams, how to read a schedule of finishes, and other information needed to accurately estimate a job from a set of plans.
A second featured presentation will be a hands-on session driven by attendee requests. Attendees will be asked to submit the most challenging type of wallcovering they’ve come across recently, then share what the paper was, what was challenging about it, and how they resolved the issue.
The information will be submitted before the convention, and manufacturers will be invited to submit samples of wallcovering. Installers will work with the materials and develop techniques to ensure successful installations.
NGPP believes the session will be “a true win-win” for installers and manufacturers.
Other Plans
A variety of new technical tabletop demonstrations will be geared at installers of every experience level, providing information and education on the skills and talents needed in today’s wallcovering market.
Other new topics include today’s wallcovering market and its more demanding client base. Installers will learn about current technologies, apps and programs that are impacting paperhangers and the wallcovering market.
