Finding the right coating for commercial and institutional floors that take a beating from heavy traffic will be the focus of a free upcoming webinar sponsored by D+D.
“Flooring Options for High-Traffic Areas” will be presented from 11 a.m. to noon EDT Aug. 14.
Big-box stores, apartment lobbies, school hallways and other high-traffic spaces have unique flooring needs. This webinar will explore concrete floor coating options and discuss how to use a set of criteria to select the best option for the needs of a specific project.

Free Coatings Webcasts Available
Numerous free D+D webcasts on a wide variety of architectural coatings topics are now available at www.durabilityanddesign.com/webinars/. Among the recent presentations:
“Fire Requirements for Foam Plastic Insulation and WRBs in Exterior Walls,” presented July 31, focused on NFPA 285 and other fire-safety building codes that affect decisions on foam plastic insulation and water-resistant barriers in multiple types of construction. The presenter was Jesse Beitel, senior scientist/principal at Hughes Associates.
“Reflective Roof Coatings and LEED,” presented July 24 by architectural consultant Robert J. Kobet, AIA, LEED Faculty, demonstrated how projects that use reflective roof coatings can acquire LEED points.
“High-performance Coatings for Exterior Metals,” Part 4 of the D+D Specifiers Series, was geared toward specifiers. The July 11 webinar discussed several coating systems typically used for ferrous metal surfaces on building exteriors. The presenter was Walter Scarborough (SCI, SCIP AIA), of Hall Building Information Group LLC.
“Life-Cycle Cost Considerations in Selecting Fluoropolymer Coatings for Architectural and Industrial Applications,” presented May 18, provided a framework for considering total life-cycle costs of coatings, factoring in maintenance, re-coating and replacement. The presenter was Bob Parker, technical service chemist for AGC Chemicals.
