Gaco Western (Seattle, WA) developed GacoFlex WalkPad, a silicone-based, solvent-free sealant reported to offer durability and aesthetic to rooftops.

The product is part of a complete silicone roofing system and contains a thickening agent in the silicone that provides durability and resistance to tearing, two qualities needed on rooftop walkways, the company says.

Also, the company bills the product as an alternative to conventional rooftop walkway mats, as the coating “becomes an integral part of the roof and cannot blow off.”

It can be applied with a brush, trowel or roller and is available in yellow. The yellow color, the company says, provides high visibility and, when combined with yellow-quartz granules, will offer good traction for pedestrian maintenance traffic.
