Industry Newsmakers: Quest, Dur-A-Flex Announce Key Appointments

Quest Specialty Chemicals, a portfolio company of Audax Group and Moelis Capital Partners, announced the appointment of Doug Mattscheck as president and CEO.

Quest, based in Menomonee Falls, Wis., is a formulator and manufacturer of coatings for architectural, roofing, industrial, and automotive aftermarket applications.

Mattscheck has extensive experience and a track record of pursuing growth strategies through acquisitions and improving on company operations in the specialty-coatings and building-materials industries, Quest said. He was most recently president and CEO of AGY, a major manufacturer of specialty glass fiber and related coatings, and previously was president of the Technical Fabrics Division of Saint-Gobain and held executive positions with H.B. Fuller, Schlegel Corp. and DuPont.

Fred Quinn, Quest’s co-founder and CEO, will continue as chairman of the board of directors and will maintain an active role in directing the company’s strategy and acquisitions. Gerry Loftus, co-founder and chief operating officer, will join the board of directors and maintain an active role in supporting the growth of the business.

The Quest Specialty Chemicals business portfolio includes the Matrix Systems, RAABE, Hydro-Stop, United Coatings, Patriot Paint, StreetBond, Foxcolor, and Zolatone brand names.

Dur-A-Flex Names Strategic Marketing Manager

Dur-A-Flex Inc., a manufacturer of polymer floor and wall systems, named Alessandro Machado Jesus international strategic marketing manager.

Machado Jesus was formerly global marketing manager at Henkel Corp., and has an extensive background in polymer adhesives and sealants, Dur-A-Flex said.

David Hughes, Dur-A-Flex vice president of marketing, research and development, said Machado Jesus’s “extensive global marketing and strategic planning roles will be crucial to Dur-A-Flex as we continue to grow, look at new markets and pursue our drive to expand.”

Machado Jesus spent 13 years working for the Loctite Division of Germany-based Henkel, in marketing leadership roles.

Dur-A-Flex, based in East Hartford, Conn., is a privately held manufacturer of epoxy, urethane, and methyl methacrylate polymer flooring and wall systems.
