The company, based in Wausau, Wis., won the 2011 Wisconsin Manufacturer of the Year Sustainability Grand Award. The award was presented recently at the state’s annual Manufacturer of the Year award ceremony in Milwaukee.
The award was based on the company’s demonstration of “a commitment and measured proof of conserving natural resources, improving energy efficiency, reducing its carbon footprint, and promoting employee and community betterment,” Linetec said.
“Environmental leadership and sustainability is no longer just a way to do good, but a good way to do business,” said Linetec President Rick Marshall. “Linetec has a compelling story to tell that includes our industry-leading energy-conservation efforts and our significant waste reduction, cutting both our wastewater and solid waste volumes in half.”

He added, “Sustainability has been a key part in our continued success and has been recognized as an essential attribute in earning awards at both a state and national level.”
In its submission for the award, Linetec highlighted its industry leadership in environmentally friendly finishes, energy-conservation programs and carbon-footprint reduction efforts.
This is the second time Linetec has been honored as a Wisconsin Manufacturer of the Year. In 2006, the company won a Grand Award for overall outstanding achievement in the category of “large company.”
Linetec was selected from more than 50 nominees for this year’s award. The nominations were evaluated by 15 judges comprised of business, government, education, and media representatives.
The company’s metal-finishing technologies have been the subject of feature articles in Durability + Design and its predecessor, the Journal of Architectural Coatings.
