The Reflective Roof Coatings Institute (RRCI) announced plans for a new raw-material supplier showcase at the group’s upcoming fifth annual meeting, scheduled for Feb. 21 in New Orleans.

The institute also has issued final program details for the meeting, to be held at the Hilton Garden Inn in New Orleans. The meeting is planned prior to the International Roofing Expo (IRE), scheduled for Feb. 22-24 at the Morial Convention Center in New Orleans.

The raw-material supplier showcase, is scheduled for 5:30-6:30 p.m. on Feb. 21. Companies interested in participating can obtain more information from the institute’s website, located at www.therrci.org. Participation carries no additional cost beyond the registration fee for the meeting.

The annual meeting, carrying a theme of “2010 and Beyond” – Environment Awareness & Sustainability, and the raw-material supplier showcase are open to roofing consultants, coatings manufacturers, building owners, facilities managers, architects, building-code officials, roofing contractors, educators, and students.

The annual meeting program plans include the following presentations.

• Linda Stone, policy associate, Global Green, will discuss her organization and other green-building industry initiatives in New Orleans, and will describe completed and in-progress projects. She will also review Global Green's definition of green; how the implementation of green technologies is taking place; and how green building will change over the next 10 years.

• Dr. Marek Urban, University of Southern Mississippi, will discuss “From Stimuli-Responsive Macromolecular Networks to Self-Repairable and Adoptive Roof Coatings." He will focus on reflectivity and offer a vision on the future of water-borne elastomeric coatings technology.

• Mary Chervenak, UCAR Emulsion Systems, will review the company’s recently introduced EnVia product rating system. The initiative is designed to help formulators of coatings, adhesives, sealants, and other construction products select raw materials.

Also scheduled for the annual meeting are a board of directors meeting; strategic-plan meeting; committee reports; a networking reception; and the institute’s business meeting.
