Tremco Inc. acquired Canam Building Envelope Specialists, a major building-envelope contracting company based in Mississauga, Ontario. Also included in the acquisition is Zerodraft, a related company that provides specialized retrofit weatherstripping, and distributes insulation and sealant products.
Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Canam will become part of the Tremco Roofing and Building Maintenance Division’s subsidiary, Weatherproofing Technologies Inc., while Zerodraft will be part of Tremco Commercial Sealants & Waterproofing.
Canam’s contracting and consulting services are focused on air-sealing and air-barrier systems, including new construction and retrofit contracting work, design consultation, field testing, and installation of a variety of systems.
Deryl Kratzer, president of Tremco’s Roofing and Building Maintenance Division, said Canam’s relationships with energy service companies, combined with Tremco’s sales force, “will help expand our presence within commercial, industrial and public-sector markets.” He said Canam’s proprietary software is used to determine energy savings and calculate the payback period to justify the investment in building envelope programs, a capability “that will help customers improve the energy efficiency of their facilities while lowering operational costs.”
