The American Subcontractors Association has honored six subcontracting firms with its first ASA Excellence in Ethics Certificates, a program developed by ASA “to recognize companies that strive to promote its values of ethical and equitable business practices in the construction industry.”
The firms, honored March 6, “have demonstrated their commitment to the highest ethical standards in the conduct of business,” ASA said. They are:
• F.A. Rohrbach (Allentown, Pa.)
• Hess Sweitzer Inc. (New Berlin, Wis.)
• Holes Inc. (Houston, Texas)
• Precision Concrete Construction Inc. (Alpharetta, Ga.)
• Viracon Inc. (Owatonna, Minn.)
• Western Engineering Contractors Inc. (Loomis, Calif.)
“ASA recognizes that in order to achieve its mission of an improved business environment in the construction industry, we must improve the ethics and integrity of those who work within the industry,” said ASA president William J. Olmo III, of Fedco Construction Inc. in Santa Rosa, Calif. “These six firms exemplify the highest ethical standards in our industry.”
Applicants for the Excellence in Ethics Certificate responded to questions concerning their corporate ethics policies and procedures, construction practices, and general business practices. They also demonstrated the implementation of such policies, including submitting letters of recommendation from a customer, a competitor and a supplier.
