For those looking to add a Brutalist element to their home, British company Murals Wallpaper recently released a wallpaper collection that features details from five well-known Brutalist buildings, including the modular walls of the Cathedral of Saint Sebastian.

The Concrete Effect line also features Welbeck Street car park’s diamond-patterned facade, the vaulted ceiling of Washington D.C.'s metro system, the London-based Portland House and the facade of the Pinnacle Building.

Brutalist Decor

Murals Wallpaper created the collection in response to recent revived interest in Brutalist architecture, which stemmed from instances such as the demolition of the Robin Hood Gardens estate in London. The famous Wellbeck Street car park is also set to undergo a similar fate; the structure will eventually be replaced by a 10-story hotel designed by Eric Parry Architects.

Architecture firm JAA developed a plan that could accommodate a new hotel while leaving the car park intact.

"We have to get away from this short-termism of 'out with the old and in with the new’ and come up with more imaginative solutions which will allow us to adapt and retain these important buildings,” said Catherine Croft, director of Twentieth Century Society.

The wallpaper is priced at $50 per square meter, which equates to $312 for a 12-foot-by-8-foot-wall, noted Curbed DC.

For those looking to add other Brutalist elements to their home, there are other options such as a coffee machine, sculptural vases, a house-shaped outlet and a lamp.
