Wisconsin-based Wausau Window and Wall Systems has unveiled its CrossTrak Sliding Doors product line.

The doors, which sport operable and fixed panels that measure up to 8-by-10 feet, were designed to take advantage of high-rise balconies’ expansive views.

The company notes that each sliding door has a rigid, 5 7/8-inch deep aluminum frame, as well as insulating glass units and a polyamide thermal barrier for energy efficiency.

Wausau Window and Wall Systems says its CrossTrak Sliding Doors, which sport operable and fixed panels that measure up to 8-by-10 feet, were designed to take advantage of high-rise balconies’ expansive views.

Wausau says its factory fabrication and glazing are designed for easy installation, with fixed and sliding glass door units set as individual frames in continuous ribbons.

The firm says that CrossTrak doors are backed with a limited warranty of up to 10 years.

"Architects told us that they wanted to design around broader views and more natural daylight, and we made it our mission to deliver," says Steve Fronek, Wausau's vice president of design engineering.

According to Wausau, it has taken design consideration when developing its doors for high-rise residential projects. The company provides test reports on these doors, which include analysis on acoustic performance, thermal transmittance and condensation resistance.

Wausau says its CrossTrak products are offered in a choice of inside track doors for use behind Juliet balconies—a very shallow balcony with a safety railing on an upper story of a building—or outside track doors with accessible thresholds, operated by either conventional or lift-and-slide hardware.

An interlocking polyamide channel is fitted with a stainless steel roller track insert that runs continuously across the sill, creating the "cross track" that makes it easier to install—even in large openings.

Fronek adds that each panel of a CrossTrak door is an independent, factory-glazed square frame, and the side-stacking frames self-align on an extruded anchor or receptor. He says an interlocking polyamide channel is fitted with a stainless steel roller track insert that runs continuously across the sill, creating the "cross track" that makes it easier to install—even in large openings.

Wausau points out that its CrossTrak Sliding Doors may be finished in more than 30,000 paint colors, or in frosty matte clear or bronze anodize tones. Patina-free copper anodize also is available.

To match it to an abode’s décor, Wausau notes that frame finishing can be two-toned, with the exterior in one finish and the interior in another. Complementing the doors' finish and contemporary design, standard hardware is available in a variety of colors and finishes. Operable panels incorporate Wausau’s integral, extruded "palm tree" pull handle, which the company says ensures a comfortable grip. Various hardware and screen options are available.
