An Illinois manufacturer of products to protect buildings from moisture infiltration has introduced a new single-component, vapor-permeable, thin-film liquid membrane for new construction and retrofit applications.

The AIR-SHIELD TMP, made by W.R. Meadows, of Hampshire, is formulated to act as an air and liquid moisture barrier when applied to most common surfaces.

The product is recommended for new construction as well as retrofit applications.

The product is water-based and cures to form a tough and seamless elastomeric membrane, according to Russ Snow, W.R. Meadows’ product group manager. Snow also says the product can be integrated into many wall systems, providing the transmission of moisture vapor through porous building materials and bridging cracks, which could form in the substrate.

Applied in liquid form, it is said to offer excellent adhesion and simplify detailing with a seamless membrane when applied to rough or smooth surfaces. User friendly and UV resistant, the product can be left exposed for up to six months, according to the manufacturer.

Further, the product has low VOC content and can be applied at air and surface temperatures of 20 degrees Fahrenheit and higher, W.R. Meadows adds.

The membrane is available in five-gallon pails or 55-gallon drums.
