BASF Wall Systems (Jacksonville, FL) has introduced Maxflash, a new liquid flashing membrane designed with restoration, air barrier and wall systems contractors in mind.

The one-component elastomeric product helps contractors “quickly and easily” address complex window configurations in a continuous, void- and pinhole-free manner, according to the company.

The flashing material can be used in new construction and restoration projects, which involve flashing rough openings.

The material is formulated for use as a flexible waterproof flashing membrane at rough openings, the company says. It can also be used to prepare sheathing joints for subsequent application of BASF air/water-resistive barrier membranes, or for use with water-resistive gypsum sheathing, BASF adds.

Further, Maxflash is compatible with damp substrates and can withstand immediate rainfall. The product cures quickly, allowing contractors to install windows within hours of application, the company adds. The manufacturer recommends the product for new construction and restoration projects.

“Complex window rough openings have become more common due to the addition of continuous insulation to meet the 2012 and 2015 International Energy Conservation Codes,” said Richard Martens, marketing manager for BASF Wall Systems.

The flashing membrane can be used on its own or as part of a BASF Exterior Insulation and Finish System (EIFS) or insulated stucco system, Martens explains.
