With just 250 days until the opening ceremony of the 2016 Olympics, construction on several of the Brazilian venues that will host the summer games have been completed.

Rio de Janeiro’s city government announced Nov. 18 that it had completed construction of three Olympic event venues: the Future Arena; the Olympic Golf Course; and Whitewater Stadium, which will host the canoe slalom events.

A time-lapse video shows construction work on Olympic venues in Rio de Janeiro. The city will host the 2016 summer games and the Paralympic games.

According to Swim Swam, which published a time-lapse video of the construction on its website, the buildings were completed despite a series of early setbacks, including worker strikes; pollution concerns; and rising costs of construction.

The Olympic Movement’s website noted that all three venues will contribute to the city after the games are complete. Future Arena will be dismantled, and its materials will be used for building public schools. The golf course will open to the public. And Whitewater Stadium will become part of public leisure facility.

While the Future Arena will host handball for the Olympic Games and goalball during the Paralympic Games—also set to be held in Rio—the golf course is perhaps most significant, according to the Olympic organizers. The course will host the first golf tournament in the Olympic Games in the past 112 years.
